Casa Avalon
Set on 11 elevated acres between Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby, CASA Avalon is a bespoke modern cabin conceived and designed by its owners and realised by FortyFour Constructions. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom dwelling is a study in restrained, site-responsive architecture - a building that sits lightly on the land while framing long views of the surrounding hills.
Spotted-gum cladding and French oak flooring give the interiors a tactile warmth, balanced by an open fireplace that anchors the living space. The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas are oriented to the landscape, dissolving into a generous outdoor terrace. Here a Parilla barbecue and the western horizon invite slow afternoons and lingering sunsets.
The Spanish-style bathroom, with its Venetian plaster finish and Eileen Gray hardware, exemplifies the artisanal craft and refined detail that runs throughout. Subtle Spanish references, honest materials and a focus on craftsmanship blur the boundary between rural escape and contemporary design statement.
